The Eco-Schools International Coordination is working on several projects aimed at bringing together schools from around the world, and assessing the environmental effect of young peoples' and teachers efforts in and around the school area.

Eco-Schools Itinerary and Linking System:
This project is now available at www.eco-schools.net!
The Linking and Itinerary project aims at providing an "Itinerary" where schools can visit each other virtually, and understand some of the characteristics of other schools within their regional contexts. The project can also be used to identify schools with similar projects or interests, and for creating "links" between schools in different countries.

Environment and Innovation project:
“Environment and Innovation” is a project to encourage Eco-Schools to come up with innovative and creative solutions to environmental problems. Winning entries will receive a grant to help them put their ideas into action and work with the local community to tackle these issues. Set up in autumn 2005, this initiative starts with a pilot project in the following countries: England and Northern Ireland, Germany, Italy and Spain.

2004 International Eco-Code:
Eco-Schools celebrated its tenth year anniversary in 2004. As part of that celebration, the International Coordination organised an Eco-Code Poster international competition, aiming at bringing Eco-Schools worldwide closer together and at motivating the participation and creativity of the children and youth involved in the programme.

Water Year 2003:
The availability of clean, fresh water is one of the most important issues facing humanity today - and will be increasingly critical for the future, as growing demands outstrip supplies and pollution continues to contaminate rivers, lakes and streams. To raise awareness and galvanize action to better manage and protect this crucial resource, the United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2003 as the International Year of Freshwater. Eco-Schools worldwide have joined UNEP in its efforts to help safeguard the most precious source of life on our Planet.
