Animal Rights
Why should Animals have Rights? Animals have a heart and a mind just like people do. They are capable of feeling love and pain, happiness and sorrow. But, because they are not able to speak to us and tell us how they feel many people forget that they are capable of having these feelings. That is why they are often hurt or neglected. Every day millions of animals suffer because of the actions of people. Most people are not even aware that they are contributing to animal suffering.
Therefore, believing that "all animal life has the right to be respected" and that "all living beings possess natural rights" the International League of Animal Rights wrote a Declaration of Animal Rights in 1977.
